SUNROOMS INSTALLATION HELP

Installation Faqs:

These Faqs are designed to give you a broad overview of what is required to successfully install a sunroom. Use these to help determine whether or not you can install a sunroom your self, or if you will need a local contractor to help with all or part of the installation.

Complete instructions are supplied with your sunroom order.

Careful attention to the preparation of your job site is essential to the successful installation of your sunroom / conservatory. The entire project depends on having these elements correct.

The floor is the first to be installed; it must be level and square. The width and depth must be exactly as shown on your plans. The adjoining wall that you will be attaching the sunroom to must be plumb and square.

It may be necessary to shim the existing wall to make the entire site plumb, level, and square.

We recommend that you remove the siding form the existing home where the sunroom is to be attached. If you have a patio door, sliding glass door or other openings into the existing home be sure to consider these when setting the finished floor height.

Depending on the type of Sunroom / Conservatory you have selected, you may need to construct your kneewall before you start (vinyl Sunrooms / Conservatories). Be sure that this is the exact size called for on your plans. Also double check that it is level and Square. If your floor was slightly out of level or square, you can correct it when you build your kneewall.

Before you start installing you sunroom / Conservatory make sure you have a clear understanding of the entire process. Read and re-read the instructions. Some steps MUST be completed before you move on to the next. If you are confused or uncertain, check the instructions. If you are still uncertain, give us a call to help clarify.

Unless specifically noted in the directions you should not have to cut any pieces. If you think that a part is incorrect or the wrong size, check the instructions and double check that you have the correct part. CALL US BEFORE YOU CUT ANY PIECE OTHER THAN TRIM OR FLASHING!

Your sunroom is often shipped with a specialty type of glass. These are designed to have particular surface facing the exterior. Be sure you understand which side faces out. If you are uncertain check with us (or your glass supplier if your glass was obtained locally)

Handle the glass carefully and store it in a dry and protected place until you are ready to install it. It may be necessary to use some flashing obtained locally to transition between the sunroom and the existing home depending on the type of siding or roofing your home has. Local building practices and codes should be checked in these instances.

If you start with a plumb, level and square job site your installation should proceed easily from one step to the next. Always be aware of what the next step is and double-check your work before proceeding to the next step.

Call us if you are uncertain or have made a mistake before you go to the next step. We have years of experience and have probably already made the same mistake and have a solution to get you back on track.

Enjoy the process and you will soon be enjoying the beauty of the outdoors all year long in your Olympic Sunroom.
